Privacy Policy

How Bid Buddy collects, uses and protects the information you share when submitting products and placing bids.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Bid Buddy collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to all visitors and participants of our 72-hour paid launch leaderboards.

Bid Buddy is a paid launch leaderboard where makers submit products and bid for ranked visibility. We aim to collect only what is necessary to run the arenas and process payments.

2. Information we collect

Submission details: the product name, URL, tagline, category and optional logo URL you provide when you submit a listing.

Bidder name: the name you enter with a bid, which is shown in a masked form (e.g. “Jane D.”) on the public board and bid history.

Payment information: processed through our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store your full card number — Stripe tokenises and secures payment data on our behalf.

Usage data: IP address, browser type, and pages visited, collected automatically for security, analytics and click tracking.

3. How we use information

To operate the arenas: displaying listings, bids, rankings and click counts, and archiving results permanently after each arena ends.

To process and fulfil payments for bids you place.

To prevent fraud, abuse and manipulation of bids or click counts.

To analyse traffic and improve the Site.

4. What is public

Submitted product names, URLs, taglines, logos and categories are displayed publicly on the board and in the permanent archive.

Bid amounts, click counts and ranking positions are public. Bidder names are masked to an initialled form before display.

Because arenas are archived permanently, this information remains visible after an arena closes.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use minimal first-party storage for core functionality (such as your session) and basic analytics. We do not sell your data to third parties.

You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time.

6. Sharing and processors

We share data only with service providers who help operate the Site — primarily our payment processor (Stripe) and hosting/analytics providers — under their own privacy and security obligations.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to advertisers.

7. Data retention

Listing and bid data is retained permanently as part of the arena archive, as this is a core feature of Bid Buddy.

Payment records are retained for as long as required for accounting, tax and dispute purposes under applicable law.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct or request deletion of your personal data, or to object to certain processing.

Because listings are archived permanently, some submitted content cannot be fully removed once an arena has ended. Contact us and we will consider reasonable requests.

9. Security

We use row-level security and access controls on our database, and rely on Stripe for payment security. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

Bid Buddy is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a minor has submitted data, please contact us for removal.

11. Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted here. For privacy questions, contact us through the details listed on the Site.
